The Chrome extension doesn't save a post

What each message in the Reelazy extension means, and how to save the TikTok slideshow anyway, including with screenshots.

You click the Reelazy button on a TikTok post and the popup doesn't offer Save to Reelazy, or the save ends in "Couldn't save this post". The popup always says why. Find its message below.

What the popup says

MessageWhyFix
"Open a TikTok slideshow to save it"The tab isn't tiktok.com.Click Open TikTok and open a photo post.
"Open a photo post to save it"You're on TikTok, but not on one post's own page, or the post is a video. "Videos aren't saved yet."Open the post on its own page. Its link has /photo/ in it.
"Sign in to Reelazy to save posts to your account."This Chrome isn't signed in to reelazy.com.Click Sign in to Reelazy, sign in, then click the Reelazy button again.
"Couldn't read this post's slides"TikTok loaded the post in a way the extension can't read.Click Reload and try again. The tab reloads; click the Reelazy button again.
"20 of 20 saved"Your free account is full.Click Manage saved posts and delete ones you've already copied, or go Pro to save up to 500.
"Couldn't save this post"The line under it says why, for example "Reelazy could not be reached. Check your connection and try again." or "This is not a photo post we can save."Fix what it names, then click Try again.
"Couldn't save this post" with "You've saved 20 posts today, the most for one day on Free. Try again in about 5 hours."Free saves up to 20 posts a day, Pro up to 200. The day starts again at midnight UTC.Save more when the line says, or go Pro.
"Couldn't save this post" with "This Reelazy account is suspended, so it can't save posts."The account was suspended. If you think this is a mistake, email [email protected].
"Couldn't save this post" with "Reelazy couldn't save this post. Try again; if it keeps failing, email [email protected]."Something went wrong on Reelazy's side.Click Try again. If it keeps failing, email us the post's link.

"Already in Reelazy" isn't an error: you saved this post before. Click Open in Reelazy to see it.

Fix it

  1. Use Chrome on a computer. The extension doesn't run on phones.
  2. Can't find the Reelazy button? Click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's toolbar and pin Reelazy.
  3. Open the slideshow on its own page on tiktok.com, so the address has /photo/ in it.
  4. Sign in to reelazy.com in the same Chrome profile.
  5. Click the Reelazy button, check the slides, then click Save to Reelazy. You can close the popup while it saves.
  6. Find the post in Formats, on the Saved tab.

Tip: Views and saves are missing? The popup says "TikTok shows views and saves only when you are logged in." Log in to TikTok in this browser before you save. For a post you already saved, use Refresh on it in Formats.

Save it with screenshots instead

If a post still won't save, take a screenshot of each slide. Click Upload screenshots instead in the popup (it opens Formats), or open Formats yourself. Click Copy a format and add the screenshots in order. Copy format reads screenshots the same way it reads a saved post.

Refresh doesn't update a saved post

Refresh on a saved post reads it on TikTok again through the extension.

  • "Refresh reads the post on TikTok through the Reelazy extension. Install or turn it on in Chrome, then reload this page." The extension is off or missing on this browser.
  • "Couldn't read the post on TikTok. It may be private or deleted." The post is gone or hidden on TikTok. What you saved stays in Reelazy.

Why it happens

The extension reads only the post open in your tab, the way TikTok shows it to you. When TikTok changes how a page loads, or the post isn't a photo post, there's nothing for it to read. See The Chrome extension and Save posts you like.
