How to set up a TikTok account for your app (2026 guide)

What TikTok actually says, what experienced founders do, and what to skip. Warming up a new account, reaching viewers in another country, how many accounts per phone, and how to post the first two weeks.

October 29, 2026 · 6 min read · by Reelazy

Most advice about new TikTok accounts is folklore: "scroll for exactly seven days", "never post from a VPN", "five accounts per phone". Some of it helps, some of it is a sales pitch for proxy tools. This guide separates three things: what TikTok's own help pages say, what founders who run many app accounts report, and what we recommend when you post with Reelazy.

If your account already exists and posts get no views, read TikTok 0 views on a new account instead.

Before you create the account

Decide which country you want to reach first. TikTok sets an account's country when it is created, from signals like the region of your SIM card or your IP address. Posts are shown mostly to people in that country. Changing it later is limited: TikTok may require that you have actually been in the new country, and you may only get to change it once. Posting from another network later does not move the account.

One email or phone number per account. Each email address or phone number can belong to one TikTok account. Plan an address per brand before you start.

Personal or business account. Business accounts can only use TikTok's Commercial Music Library, which is smaller. Many app founders keep a personal or creator account for content and only switch if they need business features.

Fill in the profile before posting. A clear name, a profile photo and a one-line bio that says what the account is about. Note that a clickable link in the bio needs 1,000 followers or a verified business account, so a new account cannot have one yet. Point viewers to your app with words ("search Reelazy in the App Store") until then.

Warming up a new account

TikTok publishes no warm-up rule. Its explanation of how For You works is about what people watch and engage with, and follower count is not a direct factor.

Founders who run many accounts still warm them up, because new accounts that start posting right away more often stall at very low views. What they report doing:

  • 1 to 7 days of normal use before the first post. Estimates vary: some say 1 to 3 days of 5 to 15 minutes, ReelFarm's guide says 5 to 7 days of 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Watch videos in your niche. Like a few, follow a few accounts in your topic, search your topic. Behave like a person, not a script.
  • Keep using the app after you start posting. A few minutes a day.

None of this is proven by a controlled test, and some brand-new accounts get a few hundred views on day one. But three to five days of normal scrolling costs little and removes one common reason for a slow start. Our recommendation: do it, and do not stress about the exact number of minutes.

The first two weeks of posting

  • Post 1 to 2 times a day, not more. Founders running slideshow accounts settle on about one post per account per day; posting again while the last post is still picking up views does not help.
  • Send posts to your TikTok inbox and finish them in the app. With the inbox option, the post arrives as a draft; you add a trending sound and tap Post. Founders who run many accounts do exactly this for new accounts, and ReelFarm tells its users the same. Posting directly through an API cannot choose a specific sound. In Reelazy, choose Send to my TikTok inbox when you connect the account (it is the recommended option), then approve drafts in Today.
  • Switch to direct posting later, once the account has a steady base of views. ReelFarm's founder reported in September 2026 that US accounts posting directly through the API suddenly got far less For You reach while drafts were unaffected. TikTok has not confirmed it, but it is one more reason to start with the inbox.
  • Disclose promotion. When a post promotes your own app, turn on the commercial content disclosure ("Your brand"). TikTok says undisclosed promotion can be shown to fewer people.
  • Original content only. Reposting someone else's slideshow, or your own post again, is not eligible for For You. Reelazy writes a new post each time.

Reaching viewers in another country

This is the question we get most from founders outside the US: "my app is in English, how do I reach American viewers?"

What TikTok's rules say: the country comes from your SIM or IP at signup, the terms of service ask for accurate account information and forbid getting around restrictions, and a later change of region may require that you have been in that country.

What some founders do anyway: create the account while connected through a network in the target country (a VPN or proxy), without a local SIM, and set the phone's language and time zone to match. People who do this report it can work, and also report shadowbans and lost accounts. It goes against the terms above, so we do not recommend it, and Reelazy does not help with it.

What works within the rules:

  • Create the account where your audience is. If you or a teammate is in the target country, create it there.
  • Work with a creator in that market, who posts on their own account.
  • Start with your home market. Many apps get their first users from their own country and expand later.
  • Write for the audience you want. The words and topics decide who stops scrolling, wherever the account is.

How many accounts per phone

TikTok lets you add several accounts in the app and switch between them. Its rules allow more than one account, but not to deceive people or get around its systems, and not to come back after a ban.

TikTok publishes no number per phone. Founders who run many app accounts keep 1 to 3 accounts per phone and say more starts to look like a farm. Treat that as experience, not a rule.

What we suggest:

  • One account per brand or audience, each with its own email.
  • Up to 2 or 3 accounts on one phone, each used like a real account.
  • No automation tricks, bought accounts or fake engagement. They are the fastest way to lose an account.

Reelazy connects each account through TikTok's official login, so you never share passwords and posting does not depend on phones at all. The Pro plan connects up to 5 TikTok accounts.

AI-generated label

Reelazy comics are drawn by the app, so posts carry TikTok's AI-generated label. TikTok says the label does not affect how far a post is distributed. What matters is whether people watch to the last slide.

  1. Decide the target country, then create the account there.
  2. One email per account; finish the profile.

  4. First two weeks: 1 to 2 posts a day, sent to your inbox, add a sound, post by hand.

  6. Keep using the app a few minutes a day.
  7. Got 0 views after 24 hours? Follow the 0 views checklist.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to warm up a TikTok account?

TikTok does not require it. Founders who run many accounts do 1 to 7 days of normal use first because it reduces slow starts. A few days of scrolling in your niche costs little.

Can I use a VPN to reach US viewers?

The account's country is set at signup from your SIM or IP, and TikTok's terms ask for accurate information. Using a VPN to look like you are in another country goes against that and can cost you the account. Create the account in the country you target, or work with a creator there.

How many TikTok accounts can I have on one phone?

TikTok gives no number. Experienced founders keep 1 to 3 per phone and use each like a real account.

Should I post directly or send to my TikTok inbox?

For a new account, send to the inbox and post from the app with a trending sound. Switch to direct posting once the account gets steady views.
